KitchenAid® PRO LINE® Series Toaster



MISSISSAUGA, ON March 24, 2005 - KitchenAid Canada announced today a voluntary recall of an estimated 884 KitchenAid® Pro Line® 2-slice and 4-slice Toasters sold in Canada between May 2004 and February 2005.

A potential fire hazard may exist due to a self-starting condition of the toaster. A short interruption of power to the toaster can cause the heating elements to turn on and possibly ignite any flammable items left on top of the toaster. No incidents of property damage or personal injury have been reported in Canada.

The recalled products are painted die-cast metal / stainless steel 2-slice and 4-slice countertop household toasters, models: (model and serial numbers are on labels affixed to the bottom of the toasters)

Call at 1-800-990-6255 if your coffee maker is affected.

Serial Numbers of the affected products begin with the letters “WTP…” or” WTR…”

Consumers that have the affected units should immediately unplug and stop using the toaster and inform all users of the toaster not to use it due to the risk of self-start and fire. Call KitchenAid Canada to arrange for a free replacement. Please have the serial number and model number of the toaster available for the call. Please do not return the toaster to the retailer where it was purchased, as retailers are not prepared to take them back.
